Papers, 1595-1900 (bulk 1634-1897).

Source and draft material collected by Professor Sharples and Leonard A. Morrison in preparing for their comprehensive work, History of the Kimball Family in America From 1634 to 1897, published in Boston in 1897 by Damrell and Upham. This book traces the descendants of Richard and Ursula (Scott) Kimball, who emigrated from Ipswich, England in 1634 and settled at Watertown, Mass. In addition to the 14 books herein called the "First Draft Family Record Books", there are also 19 other books, including indexes for the 14 record books, material on Kimball families not included in the record books, an index for allied families, and several books containing transcripts of various town records gathered mostly in New England. A large part of the collection consists of 11 boxes of file folders containing correspondence and family record sheets that were gathered by Sharples and Morrison for many years prior to, and after the publication of their book.
